Storm Season

It appears this winter is about to be history.  I love snow, but truly this year I have had enough! In preparation for the changing of the season I started looking thru some of the images I have collected.  Tornado, dust and lightning storms abound.  These old photos are a bit tough to find.  The nature of a storm, it’s speed and erratic behavior, made for nearly impossible conditions for the old time photographers.  This collection spans history and the globe, taken by a wide array of photographers, I do not have a lot of specific information on them.

My favorite photo is the Lightning at Hastings, due to the level of difficulty in getting a lightning photo in 1904!  The neatest and most emotion evoking photo, has to be the 1936 Dust Storm photo from Texas.  I can almost hear the occupants yelling “Step On It!”

Please enjoy and let me know which is your favorite or rate the post at the bottom for me.  Happy (almost) Spring!

  1. That Stradford Texas wall of dust coming over the houses looks very much like the shots of a wall of snow that crossed one of our major highways causing an instant 96 vehicle pileup. It was a mess. I have to wonder which would be worse, the sand or the snow?

  2. Hey loved them all but it must be tough, here in south of france we have had so much rain, it’s breaking all records. All in Europe it’s also very tough. Hang on! Best !
